Rainy Days and Ilness

Okay the last few weeks have really had me down, what with all of my foot trouble--I am still in an air cast for my ankle and that has kept me hobbling around and not accomplishing much.
Then I ended up with a kidney infection and the discovery of large kidney stones at the same time.......
what is an old gal supposed to do with all of that?

So instead of being way too discouraged I made a beeline to the thrift stores and bought a bunch of good mystery suspense books and have read about ten books in two weeks.
I am taking time to smell the roses as well.
This is my favorite rose. I dont even know the name but it was given to me when my father passed away 8 years ago.  It starts out with these orange hued buds........
opens up with this peachish tint
It blossoms into this beautiful yellow.

The bush is right next to the deck and is so fragrant we can smell it the minute  we step outdoors.
I keep telling myelf God is trying to get me to slow down by throwing these obstacles in my way.
That is so difficult for a super type A personality like mine.  I go go go til I drop but being slow and steady might be the real answer.  How do you tame that?

I did tackle a few small projects between reading and more reading.  I had these small mirrors I found at a garage sale for a dime each, brought them home and spray painted them what colors I had in the shed.

I attached them to the fence and then DH had these colored electrical wires so I attached those as stems and leaves.  It adds some funk to the fence and they were pennies to make.

I had this old fence board table I made about 7 years ago and it was decoupaged.  Over time it was pretty much a mess.  I considered sanding it but the pits and grooves in the weathered wood wouldn't go for that so I had this roll of vinyl I found at the salvation army story for $5.
                                                            stapled it to the underside
and now it looks so much prettier and we use it as a side table next to the grill. It is not perfect but  I just have to wash it off and it will tolerate the sun and rain and last a few more years.

I just got back from the hospital from having lithotrypsy (sonic waves against my back) yesterday and am moving sort of slow.  The Dr said they beat my back between 400-500 times and were able to break up the smaller stone but not the larger one.  But that it will break up on its own now.  Yikes  I do feel a little like I have been kicked around and have a bruise starting on my lower back.
I am drinking a ton of water and STILL laying low.  I am hoping that I will be back to my old  'mile an hour self' in a few days.  I did take my air cast off and have been doing okay walking around the house so maybe my ankle is going to be just fine too!!!!
I hope you take time to smell the roses, but not because you CAN"T do anything else!!!
